When Push Comes to Shove
Somewhere in your lifetime have you encountered a “bully”? Could it be that your “bully” approached you in your workplace, on the playground, in the school halls, in your neighborhood or maybe it was physically and when you least expected it? A “bully” is usually aggressive in his approach - his actions can be overpowering - and he is intimidating as he catches you off guard.
His goal is to break your spirit so that you give up!
I was raised as a daughter of a minister; having three brothers I thought I had faced every type of bully you could imagine. Never did I ever expect to face one of the greatest challenges I would ever have to face. It came in the form of cancer. Everyone that knew me knew me as a person with enormous faith. But when push came to shove, I had to fight to keep my faith instead of accepting fear.
We live in a fear-based world. These are troubled times, times when we have legitimate fears for the future of our nation, our world, and our families. I found myself like countless others; my faith being tested by the anxieties and fear of what my tomorrow would bring. My only weapon to fight this bully was chatting with God and claiming his promise. In Psalm 112: 7-8 NLT it reads, “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly”. God wanted to remind me that He is not just near - He was there. The battle was not mine - He was my Protector and my Deliverer. Whatever your challenge, whatever your bully, God will handle it. Because of Him I live courageously and faithful this day and every day.
